OAKLAND -- The Bishop O'Dowd High girls volleyball team didn't waste any time in its CIF Northern Regional Division III first round playoff match Tuesday.

The Dragons rolled to a 25-19, 25-11, 25-12 win over visiting Vista Del Lago of Folsom to advance to the second round of the playoffs. With the victory, O'Dowd will play at top-seed Valley Christian-San Jose on Saturday at 7 p.m. for a spot in the Northern California finals.

"We had a very hard practice and the girls knew they couldn't overlook Vista del Lago," Bishop O'Dowd assistant coach Manny Johnson said. "We've been taking it one match at a time all season long and tonight was no different."

Bryanna Davis led the Dragons (27-9) with a game-high 10 kills and junior Brianna Karsseboom added seven kills to go along with five digs. Sophomore setter Katie Orbeta had tremendous night on both sides of the net, dishing out 35 assists and added six digs.

"(Katie) Orbeta has improved so much throughout the year for us," Johnson said. "She's been great spreading the ball around, but she's worked so hard on her defense and it showed."

The Dragons jumped out on the Eagles quickly, taking 23-13 lead in the opening set. The Eagles (24-16) responded with five straight points, but Navah Evans threw down a kill and an Eagles service error gave O'Dowd the first set.

Evans then had three kills and a pair of blocks as the Dragons took a quick 13-3 lead in the second set and were never threatened while taking a 25-11 win to go up 2-0.

The third set was all O'Dowd as the Eagles never had the lead as 10 Vista del Lago errors led to Dragons points, including a service error on match point.

Kara Campbell let the Eagles with five kills.
