FROM STAFF REPORTS
UNION CITY — Classes have been cancelled at James Logan High School today due to a power outage.
A message on the school web site says staff should report to work as usual.
Over the last 24 hours, as many as 193,000 Bay Area homes and businesses lost power in the storm. Lines were brought down by heavy winds, falling trees, falling utility poles and vehicle spinouts.
As of this morning, Pacific Gas & Electric crews have been able to reduce Bay Area customer outages to about 14,000, a utility spokeswoman said, down from 24,000 three hours ago.
"The majority was from fallen trees and high winds," said spokeswoman J.D. Guidi said.
