Albany police log: 30 computers reported stolen at Albany High; several phone scam attempts; robbery at tennis court; youths throwing eggs

SUNDAY AUG. 3 SUSPICIOUS PERSON -- A Key Route Boulevard resident told police a man tried to steal property from his front yard. Police contacted the suspect and gave him a warning. BIKE THEFT -- Two bicycles were reported stolen from a home on Marin Avenue sometime during the previous night. SCHOOL BURGLARY -- A teacher at Cornell Elementary School on Talbot Avenue reported her classroom in a portable building was burglarized. MAN IN UNDERWEAR -- Police were dispatched to the corner of Cleveland and Washington streets for a report of a man in his 20s walking down the street in his underwear only.
SATURDAY, AUG. 2 SUSPICIOUS CHARACTERS -- Police responded to the parking lot of California Bank and Trust on Solano Avenue at 11:45 p.m. on a report of two males on bicycles who may have been drinking and taking illegal drugs. Police were unable to locate the men. LAUNDROMAT THEFT -- A woman left her purse unattended at Milts Coin Laundry on Solano Avenue and someone took $200 in cash from it. The woman told police she has video of the suspect. No arrest has been made.
FRIDAY, AUG. 1 SUSPICIOUS WOMAN -- At 8:04 a.m. police responded to a woman on Washington Avenue who was carrying a coffee cup, seemed confused and was looking under parked cars. Police contacted the woman who agreed to stop acting suspiciously. COMPUTER THEFT FROM SCHOOL -- At 8:41 a.m. police were dispatched to Albany High School where it was discovered that burglars had taken 30 computers during the previous night. COSMETICS THEFT -- Three women and one man stole cosmetics from the CVS Pharmacy on Solano Avenue and ran out the door. DRUNK AND PLANNING TO DRIVE -- At 11 p.m. police were called to a location on San Pablo Avenue where a woman was very drunk and getting ready to leave in a car. Police arrested the woman for an unknown violation. POSSIBLE DRUNK BICYCLIST -- At 2:30 a.m. it was reported that a woman in her 30s, possibly drunk, was riding her bike on Washington Avenue toward Solano Avenue and crashed in the street. Police were unable to locate her.
THURSDAY, JULY 31 CONFUSED DOOR KNOCKER -- A woman in her 50s who seemed unstable knocked on the door of a Kains Avenue home at 6:30 p.m. and said she was a neighbor. The resident didn't recognize her. Police were unable to find the woman. KIDS IN ABANDONED HOUSE -- At 7 p.m. police were called to an empty home on Talbot Avenue where it was reported that five teenagers had entered through the back door. The youths were gone by the time officers arrived. SICK TRESPASSER -- A person on Ordway Street was standing in a resident's front yard and refusing to leave. Police arrived and determined the person needed to be taken to a hospital. ATTEMPTED BURGLARY -- Police were called to the Albany Pool on Portland Avenue on a report of a man was cutting off a lock to a door. Police could not find the person.
WEDNESDAY, JULY 30 JUVENILE TROUBLEMAKERS -- A group of four teenagers on skateboards and scooters were skating on driveways on Talbot Avenue, and one grabbed an unattended bicycle and rode off with it. ARMED ROBBERY -- A person reported a robbery at gunpoint near the tennis courts at Albany High School on Key Route Boulevard at about 10 p.m. The suspect was a man about six feet tall wearing glasses and a hoodie. The suspect told the victim to empty his pockets and took a cell phone and other personal items. ATTEMPTED FRAUD -- Two Albany residents reported getting a call from someone claiming to be an IRS agent who told them they would be arrested if they didn't arrange to pay the person money over the phone.
TUESDAY, JULY 29 ATTEMPTED FRAUD -- Someone called the China Village on Solano Avenue claiming to be from PG&E and demanded payments. KIDS THROWING EGGS -- At about noon a person called to report that youths were throwing eggs at cars on Talbot Avenue and the person's car was covered in broken eggs. SUSPICIOUS DRIVER -- A woman driving a car eastbound on Solano Avenue was reported to be yelling "Help" out the window as she drove. Police were unable to locate the car.
