A woman was grazed by a stray bullet early Thursday morning in an East Oakland apartment a month after a 21-year-old mother was killed while she slept just three blocks away.

Multiple shots were fired about 12:27 a.m. at an apartment in the 7900 block of MacArthur Boulevard. One of the bullets penetrated the wall of the apartment where the woman, a 20-year-old whose name police have not released, was standing in the kitchen of her apartment.

The bullet grazed her left thigh but she was not seriously hurt. Her mother was in the living room of the apartment and was unharmed.

The occupant of another apartment apparently targeted by the shooter was not injured.

The shooting is the third time a stray bullet hit an unintended victim in Oakland.

Shaneice Davis was killed in her bed April 7 when a stray bullet fired at a group standing at an outdoor memorial for another shooting victim pushed through the wall of Davis' room at 8200 MacArthur Boulevard.

In January, 10-year-old Christopher Rodriguez was paralyzed by a stray bullet fired during a Piedmont Avenue gas station holdup as he took piano lessons across the street at the Piedmont Piano Company.
