Allen Strutz dedicated his off-work hours — and 30 years in retirement — to helping and honoring veterans in Alameda County.The Hayward resident, who died June 24 at age 90, was an Army veteran of World War II who spent every Christmas Day for more than 50 years at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Livermore.
