The Oakland City Council will hold a special meeting at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday that will include a request to increase the pay for one of the five firms hired to conduct internal affairs investigations into Occupy Oakland-related police complaints.

The city had agreed to pay the law firm Burke Williams Sorenson, LLP $100,000 to help close out several of the investigations before the end of the month to comply with a court order. But the investigations have proved complex, and the city is adding two additional cases to the firm's workload, so the council is now being asked to increase the firm's contract to $275,000.
