Stanford senior Mariya Koroleva and duet partner Mary Killman were named USA Synchronized Swimming's athletes of the year while Santa Clara native and 2000 Olympian Kim Wurzel-LoPorto was coach of the year.

Koroleva and Killman finished 11th in their Olympic debut in London. Koroleva, of Concord, had competed for the Walnut Creek Aquanuts whereas Killman, of McKinney, Texas, competed for the Santa Clara Aquamaids. They won a silver medal at the 2011 Pan American Games. Killman was named athlete of the year for the third consecutive time.

Wurzel-LoPorto led Incarnate Word of San Antonio, Texas, to the high point title at the 2012 national championships and a second-place finish at the U.S. collegiate championships. Walnut Creek's Kim Probst won the developmental coaching award.
