Meals on Wheels event a success
Our committee would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to those who made the recent launch of Friends of Meals on Wheels a success.
The support we received goes a long way toward our goal of avoiding a waiting list for home-delivered meals in Santa Cruz County. Our event supporters included Bargetto Winery, Bay Photo Lab, Bill Lovejoy, S. Martinelli & Co, Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds, Santa Cruz Sentinel, and our event sponsor, Wells Fargo Bank.
Community support of Meals on Wheels truly makes the difference in bringing a meal and smiling face to seniors unable to get out and about.
Most recipients live on an income of less than $1,000 per month, and this year we are seeking to restore funding for 10,000 meals that have lost a dependable funding source. Thanks to our growing group of "Friends," we're on our way.

Kudos to Aptos library, librarian
My granddaughter needed a book for her school class and was at a loss how to begin looking through the maze of books. Julie Richardson at the Aptos library explained step by step the many ways to access books of interest to her.
She opened our eyes to a new method of exploring books. Thanks to her, we now have the perfect read.
We both send kudos to her and the library.
Gail Sherman, Aptos
Thanks to Santa Cruz community
Omega Nu's 57th annual Rummage Sale, held in October at the Civic Auditorium, was a tremendous success thanks to the support of the Santa Cruz community.
We would like to thank Louis Rittenhouse, Dell Williams Jewelers, Pro Build, the Civic Auditorium staff, the Salvation Army and everyone who donated gently used items for our sale.
We also wish to thank our members' families and friends, and our inactive members who worked so hard to make the Omega Nu Rummage Sale a huge success.
All of the proceeds of the Omega Nu Rummage Sale are returned to the Santa Cruz community through our charity and scholarship programs.
We hope to see everyone at our annual Ducky Derby on April 27, 2013.
Thanks again from the members of Omega Nu of Santa Cruz.

Special thank you to 'Turkey Guys'
A very special thank you to "The Turkey Guys," a group of caring community members who come together every year to make Thanksgiving possible for 16 homeless families working with our agency.
Thank you for your generosity throughout the years.

Bravo to dance academy dancers
Bravo to Shannon Cullem-Chipman, Vicki Bergland and Melissa Palumbo for their fourth Nutcracker Suite performance.
What a joy to watch the growth from one act four years ago at the Bethany University stage to a full-length Nutcracker performance at the Cabrillo Crocker Theater.
Each year there has been exciting new choreography, new costumes and surprises. This year there was an amazing aerial performance at the opening show and a beautiful four-person Dicken's Choir during the following performances.
Many local performers, dancers, aspiring professionals and professionals come together to delight the senses. This year Tricia Albertson, who began her training with Vicki Bergland, and her partner Didier Bramaz from the Miami City Ballet, again graced the stage with their beauty and grace. It continues to be a family-friendly environment despite the amazing growth.
Congratulations to the IAD dancers and performers for an amazing run of shows! BRAVO!
