Kevin Foster's 30-point night moved him atop the career scoring list at Santa Clara and helped the Broncos defeat host Saint Louis 74-62 on Wednesday.

Foster broke Kurt Rambis' career points record at 16:01 in the second half. The senior guard now has 1,748 points in his SCU career. Rambis scored 1,735 points from 1976-80.

Foster also had seven steals and five assists for the Broncos (2-0). He was 10 of 18 from the field with a pair of 3-pointers, and 8 for 9 from the free-throw line. Foster was coming off a 27-point performance against Simpson in the Broncos' opener.

"Scoring. That is what Kevin is born to do, and I am glad that we have him," Broncos coach Kerry Keating said. "Kurt Rambis held the record for a long time. Kevin has set the bar high for someone in the future."

"For most of the game we let Kevin go off," said senior forward Marc Trasolini, who had nine points and 10 rebounds. "He was hot, and we kept going to him. It was working."

Foster's 17 first-half points helped Santa Clara take a 44-31 lead at halftime.

"We did a fantastic job on defense," Keating said. "We held them to 35 percent from the floor. We did a tremendous job of getting to their shooters, not getting flustered when it didn't go our way. We turned them over 17 times. The guys showed some real maturity and some toughness tonight."

Rob Loe led Saint Louis (1-1) with 13 points.

Florida 74, Wisconsin 56: Erik Murphy scored 24 points, hitting all 10 of his shots from the field, to lead the No. 10 Gators (2-0) past the visiting No. 22 Badgers (1-1).
