Allen Crabbe scored 17 of his game-high 20 points in the second half to lead Cal to a 72-61 victory at Denver on Friday night.
Crabbe, a junior guard, became the 42nd player in school history to score 1,000 career points. The Bears improved to 3-0.
Backcourt mate Justin Cobbs scored 17 points, and forward David Kravish had 11 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Ricky Kreklow and Robert Thurman had 10 points apiece.
Brett Olson scored 17 points and Chris Udofia had 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Pioneers (1-2).
Colorado 60, Baylor 58: Askia Booker scored 19 points and Colorado survived dreadful foul shooting down the stretch to hold off No. 16 Baylor (3-1) at the Charleston (S.C.) Classic. The Buffaloes (3-0) went 4 for 18 from the foul line but still advanced to the final.
UCLA: The NCAA ruled freshman guard Shabazz Muhammad eligible to play, and he is set to make his Bruins debut Monday night. The NCAA said that UCLA's sanctions against Muhammad were sufficient after the school required him to sit out three games and repay $1,600 in impermissible benefits.
