Brian Wilson might want to pitch for the Los Angeles Dodgers, but it appears the interest isn't mutual.
The bearded closer wasn't tendered a contract for next season by the Giants, making him a free agent. Wilson lives in Los Angeles in the offseason, and the Dodgers are among the teams with which he would like to sign, according to multiple reports.
Though the Dodgers won't publicly comment on free agents, people familiar with team officials' thinking say they aren't looking to sign Wilson, who pitched in only two games in 2012, as he had reconstructive elbow surgery in April.
With Brandon League, Kenley Jansen and Ronald Belisario under club control, the back of the Dodgers' bullpen appears to be close to set. The winter meetings begin Monday in Nashville, Tenn.
North Carolina scored three goals in the second half to beat Penn State 4-1 in San Diego and win its 21st women's NCAA title. The Tar Heels (15-5-3) were making their 26th College Cup appearance, while the Nittany Lions (21-4-2) were playing in their first final. With the game tied 1-1, Hanna Gardner scored 48 seconds into the second half when she headed Katie Bowen's corner kick past Nittany Lions goalie Erin McNulty. Satara Murray and Ranee Premji also had second-half goal for North Carolina, which ousted Stanford 1-0 in double overtime Friday.
Traditional labor talks have done little to make progress in the ongoing lockout, so the league and players association will try something different. Six owners will meet with six players Tuesday in New York -- one day before the league's board of governors meeting. The owners will be Ron Burkle (Pittsburgh), Mark Chipman (Winnipeg), Murray Edwards (Calgary), Jeremy Jacobs (Boston), Larry Tanenbaum (Toronto) and Jeff Vinik (Tampa Bay). The players' list wasn't expected to be announced Sunday. Commissioner Gary Bettman proposed the idea last week. Games through Dec. 14 have been canceled, along with the Jan. 1 Winter Classic and All-Star Weekend on Jan. 26-27 in Columbus, Ohio.
Lindsey Vonn completed a weekend sweep of the three World Cup races at Lake Louise, winning the super-G in 1 minute, 22.82 seconds at the Alberta resort. American teammate Julia Mancuso was second in 1:23.25.
