James Kinney had 26 points and seven rebounds to help lead San Jose State to a 76-71 Western Athletic Conference victory over Seattle at the Event Center on Saturday.
Louis Garrett added 21 points as the Spartans (8-6, 3-1) had two players reach 20 for the first time this season.
"We had better rhythm (on offense)," said coach George Nessman, whose team rebounded from a 28.2 shooting percentage in a loss to Idaho two nights earlier. "We moved the ball and made them defend for longer stretches. Our guys think they can quick-shoot it, but it is not a good strategy for us."
Chad Rasmussen led Seattle (5-8, 0-3) with 15 points.
BYU 80, USF 76: The Cougars (12-4, 2-0) went on a 10-5 run over the final four minutes to beat the Dons (8-7, 0-2) in a West Coast Conference game in San Francisco.
Cody Doolin had 22 points and 10 assists to lead USF, and Cole Dickerson also scored 22.

Notre Dame 73, Connecticut 72: Skylar Diggins scored 19 points, hitting big shot after big shot in the second half to lift the fifth-ranked Irish (12-1, 1-0 Big East) over the top-ranked Huskies (12-1, 0-1) in Storrs, Conn.
Notre Dame has won five of its past six game against UConn, including ending the Huskies' season in the past two Final Fours.
"I think when we play them, there is a lot on the line, whether it is a Big East championship or them being ranked higher than us or in the Final Four," Diggins said. "This is good for us."
Saint Mary's 84, Loyola Marymount 77: Jackie Nared had 23 points and 12 rebounds to lead three Gaels players with double-doubles as Saint Mary's (10-4, 2-0 WCC) defeated the Lions (7-8, 1-1) in overtime in Los Angeles.
Danielle Maudlin had 22 points and 10 rebounds for the Gaels, and Morgan Hatten had 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Seattle 72, San Jose State 60: Ta'Rea Cunnigan had a game-high 23 points, but the Spartans (4-11, 1-3 WAC) lost to the host Redhawks (6-6, 3-0).
Gonzaga 79, Santa Clara 50: Despite Lindsay Leo's 16 points, six rebounds and three blocked shots, the Broncos (9-6, 1-1 WCC) fell to the Bulldogs (12-4, 2-0) in Spokane, Wash.
