C.J. Fair tipped in the go-ahead basket with 19.4 seconds left, and No. 3 Syracuse rallied past No. 21 Cincinnati 57-55 on Monday in Syracuse, N.Y.

Trailing by seven points with just over five minutes left, Syracuse rallied to tie the score at 55 on Michael Carter-Williams' 3-pointer with 80 seconds left.

Fair's tip came after Jerami Grant drove the lane and missed. Cincinnati's Cashmere Wright missed a 3 from straight on with 2.9 seconds left, and the Orange had its 35th straight win at home, the longest active streak in Division I.

Fair had 13 points for Syracuse (18-1, 6-0 Big East), which was coming off a 70-68 win at then-No. 1 Louisville.

Sean Kilpatrick had 21 points for the Bearcats (16-4, 4-3), who had won three straight.

  • Duke returned to No. 1 in The Associated Press poll after dropping from the top spot for one week. Michigan jumped from fifth to second, and Kansas tied Syracuse for third. Louisville dropped from first to fifth.

    Women

    Connecticut 79, Duke 49: After leading 32-30 at the half, the No. 3 Huskies overwhelmed the No. 4 Blue Devils in Storrs, Conn., handing Duke its first loss.

    Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis scored 21 points and Kelly Faris added 18 points and 12 rebounds for UConn (17-1). Alexis Jones had 14 points for Duke (16-1).

  • The top 10 teams were unchanged in the AP rankings, with Baylor at No. 1 followed by Notre Dame, UConn, Duke and Kentucky in the top five. Stanford remained at No. 6 and Cal at No. 7.
