Michigan is No. 1 in The Associated Press poll for the first time since their Fab Five days 20 years ago.
The Wolverines took over the top spot Monday, a day after a 74-60 victory at Illinois. They received 51 first-place votes from the 65-member national media panel. Kansas moved up one spot to No. 2, and Indiana, Florida and Duke complete the top five.
Duke, which was No. 1 last week, dropped after being routed 90-63 by Miami.
Michigan was at the top for three weeks at the start of 1992-93, the second and final season for the Fab Five -- Chris Webber, Juwan Howard, Jalen Rose, Jimmy King and Ray Jackson -- as a unit.
In the women's poll, Stanford moved up to fourth and Cal to No. 6.
Baylor remains No. 1 for a fourth consecutive week.
Men
Kansas 61, West Virginia 56: Travis Releford and Jeff Withey each scored 15 points as the Jayhawks (19-1, 7-0 Big 12) nearly relinquished a double-digit lead before beating the Mountaineers (9-11, 2-5) in Morgantown, W. Va.
In the first meeting between the schools, the Jayhawks held West Virginia to four field goals over the final 10 minutes.

Louisville 64, Pittsburgh 61: Russ Smith and Gorgui Dieng combined for 34 points and sealed the game with four free throws in the final 12 seconds as the No. 12 Cardinals (17-4, 5-3 Big East) ended a three-game losing streak by beating the Panthers (17-5, 5-4) in Louisville, Ky.
Syracuse: Forward Dajuan Coleman will have a surgical procedure on his left knee and is expected to miss four weeks.
Women
Saint Mary's 68, USF 63: Kate Gaze scored 20 points, Jackie Nared added 18, and Danielle Mauldin had 16 as the Gaels (14-5, 6-1) defeated the Dons (9-12, 2-6) in a West Coast Conference game in Moraga.
Notre Dame 77, Tennessee 67: Skylar Diggins scored a career-high 33 points and the No. 2 Irish (19-1) built a 19-point lead in the second half before withstanding a late rally by the No. 9 Lady Vols (16-4) in Knoxville, Tenn.
Notre Dame became the first school to defeat both Connecticut and Tennessee in three consecutive seasons.
Stanford: Junior forward Chiney Ogwumike was named Pac-12 Player of the Week after averaging 21.5 points, 12.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks in victories over Utah and Colorado.
