Brian Ragira had a two-run double in the third to give Stanford (1-1) a 2-1 lead. Michael Aquino hit two solo homers for the host Owls (1-1).

Santa Clara (2-0) had 16 hits in a 16-11 win over visiting Seattle. The Broncos' Casey Munoz went 4 for 6 with two RBIs.

David Wayne Russo (six innings) and Daniel Chavez (three innings) combined on a shutout, as San Jose State (2-0) breezed 10-0 over visiting Pacific. Matt Carroll had three hits, two runs and two RBIs.

  • Maddy Schaefer won the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events and swam on the winning 400 free relay team, but No. 2 Stanford fell to seventh-ranked Cal 154.5-145.5 at the Spieker Aquatics Complex.

  • Saint Mary's upended No. 7 Stanford 4-3 at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium. The Cardinal was without No. 1 singles player Nicole Gibbs.

    Olympic gold medalist Missy Franklin made it four wins in three nights at the Arena Grand Prix in Orlando, Fla, winning the 200-meter backstroke and 100 freestyle.
