Stanford's Lonnie Kauppila doubled off the right-center wall in the bottom of the ninth inning to score Alex Blandino from first base for a 2-1 walk-off win as the No. 14 Cardinal (9-2) swept its three-game series with No. 22 Texas on Sunday at Sunken Diamond.

In his first college start, freshman Bobby Zarubin limited Texas (6-5) to two hits over eigth innings. Garrett Hughes (2-0) pitched a scoreless ninth.

  • Cal (5-6) had 20 hits in a 13-2 rout of Houston (8-3) at Minute Maid Park. Andrew Knapp went 4 for 5 with a homer and three RBIs, and Brenden Farney went 4 for 5 with two RBIs.

  • UC Santa Barbara (7-4) posted a walk-off 2-1 win over visiting San Jose State (2-9).

    Spartans reliever Kalei Contrades had a 1-2-3 ninth inning and retired the first two batters in the 10th. But a Cameron Newell single and Woody Woodward hit-by-pitch set the table for Brandon Trinkwon's RBI-single.

  • Looking for the three-game sweep, host Santa Clara (6-6) lost 3-2 to Northern Colorado (3-4). Greg Harisis and Zach Looney hit solo homers for the Broncos.

  • Saint Mary's (4-7) was doomed by a three-run eighth, falling 4-1 to host UC Riverside (6-5).

  • Powered by a title in the 200-yard medley relay (1:24.42, Tony Cox, Trevor Hoyt, Tom Shields and Shayne Fleming) and a runner-up finish in the 800 freestyle relay, the Cal men's swim team was in first place after Day 1 of the Pac-12 championship in Federal Way, Wash.

    Cal had 74 points, four ahead of USC and eight in front of Stanford.
