The San Jose State men's basketball team ended its regular season with a 13th consecutive loss, falling 90-67 to Texas State in a Western Athletic Conference game Saturday night at the Event Center.
Chris Cunningham scored 17 points for the Spartans (9-19, 3-13), who will play UTSA at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in the first round of the WAC tournament in Las Vegas.
Joel Wright sparked the Bobcats (10-21, 5-13) with 25 points. Texas State hit 33 of 51 shots from the field, including 11 of 17 3-point shots.
"They (Texas State) started out making everything, and their strong shooting continued the whole game," SJSU coach George Nessman said. "They just wouldn't let us catch up. They kept making shots.
"When your defense can't get stops, it's really hard to win a basketball game. ... We really don't have the firepower to play with a team when we give up 90 points."
UCLA 61, Washington 54: Shabazz Muhammad scored 21 points and the No. 23 Bruins clinched the Pac-12 Conference regular-season title with a win over the host Huskies.
UCLA (23-8, 13-5) had to wait for Oregon to lose to Utah to wrap up the title and the No. 1 seed in the Pac-12 tournament in Las Vegas. Cal won the tiebreaker to be the second seed and will play at 6 p.m. Thursday against the winner of Wednesday's game between USC and Utah.
Stanford is seeded eighth and faces Arizona State at noon Wednesday with the winner meeting UCLA in Thursday's quarterfinals.
Utah 72, Oregon 62: Jason Washburn had 20 points and 13 rebounds and the host Utes (13-17, 5-13 Pac-12) held off the No. 19 Ducks (23-8, 12-6).
Arizona 73, Arizona State 58: Nick Johnson scored 17 points and the No. 18 Wildcats (24-6, 12-6 Pac-12) routed the visiting Sun Devils (20-11, 9-9).
Gonzaga 66, Loyola Marymount 48: Elias Harris had 21 points to lead the No. 1 Bulldogs (30-2) past the Lions (11-23) in the semifinals of the West Coast Conference tournament in Las Vegas.
Duke 69, North Carolina 53: Mason Plumlee had 23 points and 13 rebounds and Seth Curry added 20 points as the No. 3 Blue Devils (27-4, 14-4 Atlantic Coast Conference) routed the host Tar Heels (22-9, 12-6).
Baylor 81, Kansas 58: Pierre Jackson had 28 points and 10 assists as the host Bears (18-13, 9-9) handed the No. 4 Jayhawks (26-5, 14-4) their worst loss in seven years. Kansas finished tied with Kansas State for the Big 12 title but still earned the No. 1 seed in this week's conference tournament.
Georgetown 61, Syracuse 39: Markel Starks scored 19 points for the host No. 5 Hoyas (24-5, 14-4), who held the No. 17 Orange (23-8, 11-7) to its lowest-scoring game ever in Big East play. With the win, Georgetown clinched the No. 1 seed in this week's Big East tournament.
Miami 62, Clemson 49: Kenny Kadji scored high 23 points to help the No. 6 Hurricanes (24-6, 15-3) clinch the Atlantic Coast Conference championship with a win over the visiting Tigers (13-17, 5-13).
Texas State 100, San Jose State 67: Diamond Ford scored 25 points and the host Bobcats (10-19, 4-14 WAC) made 12 of 25 3-point shots in a rout of the Spartans (11-18, 8-10) in the teams' regular-season finale.
Riana Byrd had 15 points and 17 rebounds, and Ta'Rea Cunnigan scored 16 points for SJSU, which will play No. 3 seed Utah at noon Wednesday in the WAC tournament.
