Earthquakes star Chris Wondolowski tweeted Sunday that he crossed the line in yelling at a teammate late in a 1-1 draw at Columbus.
Second-year forward Sam Garza squandered a potential-game winning play Saturday when booting an open 15-yard shot past the far post. Wondolowski had broken free on the play that was set up by rookie Adam Jahn's move toward the goal.
A simple service by Garza to the reigning MLS MVP probably would have netted a goal with about 15 minutes left. Wondolowski then screamed at Garza.
"My intensity got the best of me yesterday, and I crossed the line," the Danville native tweeted Sunday. "I love and support my teammates %100."
Garza took the blame in a tweet after Wondolowski's. "Should've passed. No excuse," he wrote.
