Greg Calcagno, son of legendary St. Francis football coach Ron Calcagno, is taking over the program his father led to 11 Central Coast Section championships from 1972-95, the school has announced.
Calcagno replaces Nick Navarro, who is moving to Florida to explore other employment opportunities and to be closer to family, according to a St. Francis news release.
Calcagno was quarterback and captain on the St. Francis team that went 13-0 in 1982, the school's first undefeated football team.
He graduated in 1983 and went on to play at Santa Clara University. He is currently St. Francis' Alumni Director and spent last season as an assistant junior varsity coach.
Chau Truong won at No. 3 singles to give the Spartans a 4-3 win over Denver University their first Western Athletic Conference championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.
Truong also teamed with Julianna Bacelar for a win at No. 3 doubles while Klaudia Boczova and Erica Medlin earned singles victories.
Captain Seamus Kelly scored four tries, leading top-ranked Cal to a 74-6 victory over Navy in the semifinals of the Varsity Cup National Championships at Witter Rugby Field. The Bears will play at BYU next Saturday for the national title.

The top-ranked Stanford women's water polo team posted an 11-7 MPSF Championship semifinal win over No. 4 UCLA in Berkeley. The Cardinal will play No. 2 USC on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
