Stanford linebacker Chase Thomas was among 13 undrafted free agents who agreed to rookie contracts with New Orleans on Sunday.

The Saints signed three other linebackers -- Nebraska's Eric Martin, North Carolina's Kevin Reddick and Central Florida's Rayford Shipman.

NFL.com graded Thomas as the 68th best prospect in the draft.

  • Jacksonville agreed to terms with 23 undrafted rookies, including tight end Ryan Otten (San Jose State) and quarterbacks Jordan Rodgers (Vanderbilt) and Matt Scott (Arizona). Rodgers is the brother of Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers.

  • Buffalo reached a deal with Washington State quarterback Jeff Tuel, who went undrafted.

    Colleges

    No more "Legends" or "Leaders." The Big Ten is going with "East" and "West" after presidents and chancellors approved the change. New division alignments will begin in 2014 when Rutgers and Maryland join the conference. Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State and Rutgers will be in the East. The West will consist of Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Purdue and Wisconsin.

  • Colorado's Andre Roberson will enter the NBA draft. The junior forward led the Pac-12 in rebounding at 11.2 a game and averaged 11 points.

  • Point guard Shane Larkin will forgo his final two years at Miami and enter the NBA draft.

  • Former Yale hockey coach Tim Taylor died of cancer. He was 71.

    Tennis

    Rafael Nadal won the Barcelona Open for the eighth time, beating fellow Spaniard Nicolas Almagro 6-4, 6-3 for his fourth title of the year. The latest win is another sign Nadal is at full strength from a knee injury that sidelined him since last summer. It was his 54th career title.

  • Maria Sharapova beat Li Na 6-4, 6-3 to win the WTA Porsche Grand Prix in a final between the last two French Open champions in Stuttgart, Germany. It was Sharapova's 29th career title.

    Miscellany

    Giles Barnes scored in the 56th minute, and Houston (4-2-2) extended its MLS record home unbeaten streak to 36 games with a 1-1 tie against Colorado (2-4-3). The Dynamo hasn't lost at game since falling to Columbus 2-0 on June 18, 2011.

  • Cruz Pedregon became the first two-time Funny Car winner in 2013 in the O'Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Nationals at Royal Purple Raceway (Texas).

  • Bay Area-based trainer Jerry Hollendorfer and jockey Rafael Bejarano teamed to win the $150,000 Wilshire Handicap with Halo Dolly, capping a weekend in which they each won four stakes races at Hollywood Park.
