Beatriz Recari out-dueled Paula Creamer to win the Marathon Classic on Sunday in Sylvania Ohio, rolling in a 12-foot birdie putt on the par-3 14th hole to take the lead for good.
Recari and Pleasanton native Creamer, who won at Highlands Meadows five years ago, began the day three shots ahead of their nearest pursuers.
Recari, who won $195,000, shot a 5-under 66 to finish at 17-under 267. She made a clutch 5-foot par putt at 18.
Creamer closed with a 67 and won $120,655. She has nine tour titles but is winless since the 2010 U.S. Women's Open.
Jodi Ewart Shadoff (66) and Lexi Thompson (67) shared third at 271.
Miami's top draft pick Dion Jordan is sitting out the start of training camp because his surgically repaired shoulder has not fully healed. Coach Joe Philbin declined to say how long Jordan will be sidelined. The defensive end/linebacker from Oregon was the third overall pick in the draft.
Joey Logano held off Sam Hornish Jr. to win the NASCAR Nationwide race at Chicagoland Speedway. Logano, the lone Sprint Cup regular in the race, earned his second Nationwide win of the year and No. 20 overall. Car owner Roger Penske claimed the top two spots at the 1.5-mile, D-shaped oval.
Serena Williams won her 53rd WTA title by beating Johanna Larsson 6-4, 6-1 at the Swedish Open in Astad. Williams won the final three games of the first set and dominated the second.
