Los Angeles right fielder Yasiel Puig made a leaping try for an acrobatic catch on Baker's hit but slammed against the fence, and the ball deflected off it and hit him in the face. Puig collapsed to his stomach and was slow to rise. He passed a concussion test and was listed as day to day.
Phillies 1, Nationals 0: Jimmy Rollins tripled in the first inning and scored on Chase Utley's single as Philadelphia won a pitching duel. Roberto Hernandez allowed four hits in 71/3 innings to earn the win. Washington's Gio Gonzalez gave up four hits and struck out seven in 71/3 innings.
Rangers 14, Angels 3: Prince Fielder had a pair of RBI doubles, and Texas starter Yu Darvish shrugged off first-inning homers by Erick Aybar and Albert Pujols to get his first win since April 6.
Mariners 8, Astros 7: Willie Bloomquist broke a tie with a two-run double, and Robinson Cano followed with his first triple since June 3, 2012, to boost Seattle.
Mets 5, Rockies 1: Dillon Gee pitched six strong innings, extending his scoreless streak to 16 innings as New York averted a four-game sweep. Gee is 13-6 with a 2.66 ERA since last May 30.
Tigers 9, Royals 4: Justin Verlander won his fourth straight decision as Detroit completed a three-game sweep.
