Marlins 13, Dodgers 3: Ed Lucas homered for Miami during a six-run second inning in which second baseman Dee Gordon's fielding error led to five unearned runs, and the Marlins scored another six runs two innings later to rout Los Angeles.

Angels 3, Phillies 0: Garrett Richards (4-0) pitched seven sharp innings, and Los Angeles swept the two-game series. Philadelphia dropped to 6-11 at home.

Tigers 7, Orioles 5: Rajai Davis homered, and Detroit overcame a rare shaky performance by Justin Verlander (5-2) to complete a three-game sweep of Baltimore.

Nationals 5, Diamondbacks 1: Ian Desmond and Tyler Moore hit two-run singles in the ninth inning to send Washington past Arizona.

Royals 3, Rockies 2: Mike Moustakas hit a three-run double in the second inning, and Kansas City completed a two-game sweep of Colorado.

Rays 2, Mariners 0: Jake Odorizzi pitched one-hit ball for six innings, but Tampa Bay lost All-Star Ben Zobrist to a dislocated thumb during a win over Seattle.

Yankees 4, Mets 0: Masahiro Tanaka (6-0) pitched a four-hitter for his first major league shutout, and the Yankees got home runs from Yangervis Solarte and Mark Teixeira in ending a six-game losing streak to the Mets.

Indians 15, Blue Jays 4: David Murphy had five hits and five RBIs, and Lonnie Chisenhall also had five hits as Cleveland routed Toronto.

Red Sox 9, Twins 4: David Ortiz homered twice for the second straight game to boost Boston.

Astros 5, Rangers 4: Matt Dominguez's RBI single in the ninth inning lifted Houston.

  • The Rangers placed left-handed starters Matt Harrison and Martin Perez on the disabled list and both could be sidelined for extended periods. Harrison has nerve irritation in his vertebrae, and Perez has a partial tear of his ulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow.
