East Bay League Meet
At Temescal Regional Park
Piedmont Middle School hosted its annual meet for the East Bay League schools at Temescal Regional Park. Over 350 runners from 15 different schools participated in the meet.
Four races were held during the meet, with the sixth grade girls competing first. Erin Hong, from Piedmont Middle School, finished in first with a time of 7:43.5, a full 12 seconds faster then the second-place finisher. Josephine Gross Whittaker and Naomi Hollinger also had strong runs with respective times of 8:05.6 and 8:05.8.
In the next race, sixth grade boys, Piedmont had five runners finish in the top 12. Lorand Cheng finished in fifth place (7:25.6) and was followed by Henry Cooper, Dylan Thayer, Sam Von Herrmann, and Mitch Curtis.
The third race was a combination of seventh and eighth graders. Skyler Liu placed second and set a new PMS course record with a time of 7:34.7. Leah Kochendoerfer (8th place) and Minnie cooper (11th place) also finished in the top twelve.
The final race was the largest group, 132 seventh and eighth grade boys. Piedmont's Blake Gruendl finished in eighth place with a time of 6:50.5. He also set a new PMS course record for the eighth grade boys, breaking the old record by almost 20 seconds. Daniel Jones and Nick Loduca finished in the top 20 with times under 7:08.

At Golden Gate Fields Meet

Piedmont Middle School's Cross Country team participated in the annual Golden Gate Fields meet. About 400 students from 13 different schools participated in the East Bay League meet which was hosted by Albany Middle School.
Four races were held throughout the meet, starting with the sixth grade boys race. Piedmont's Henry Cooper (6th place), Dylan Thayer (9th place), and Mitchell Curtis (10th place) finished in the top 10.
In the next race, sixth grade girls, Erin Hong finished third and Zoe Rickard placed 12th. In the seventh and eighth grade boys race, Kyler Mortimer finished 21st. Ellie Coleman and Ava Podell represented the seven and eighth grade girls, finishing fifth and 11th, respectively.
Stanley 14, Piedmont 12: Coming off an overtime tie in their previous game, the eighth grade Highlanders had a disappointing loss against Stanley.
A touchdown from Nick Price to Nick Pacult gave the Piedmont Highlanders their first touchdown in the second quarter. Down 14-6 with two plays to go, the Highlanders' Goyo Prospero scored and cut the deficit to just two points. The Highlanders were unable to convert the two-point conversion and the game ended. Tough plays were made by Luke Eidam, Emmett Smith and Lane Manola-LeClair.
Piedmont 12, Stanley 7: A steadily improving seventh grade PMS flag football squad shocked the world with a thrilling victory over the perennial favorite Stanley Middle School.
Stanley scored first with its balanced run-and-throw offense. Piedmont failed to score in the first half but its tenacious defense kept the game close. In the second half, Piedmont scored first with strongs runs by the quarterback and running back. The offensive line propelled the drive with impact blocking on the line of scrimmage.
Late in the game, and still trailing by a point, Piedmont went for it on fourth down. The Highlanders' quarterback dropped back and set his feet behind before unloading a tight spiral to an open Piedmont receiver, who made the catch and scored the go-ahead touchdown.
