Flag Football

Eighth Grade

Stanley 14, Piedmont 12: Coming off an overtime tie in their previous game, the eighth grade Highlanders had a disappointing loss against Stanley.

A touchdown from Nick Price to Nick Pacult gave the Piedmont Highlanders their first touchdown in the second quarter. Down 14-6 with two plays to go, the Highlanders' Goyo Prospero scored and cut the deficit to just two points. The Highlanders were unable to convert the two-point conversion and the game ended. Tough plays were made by Luke Eidam, Emmett Smith and Lane Manola-LeClair.

Seventh grade

Piedmont 12, Stanley 7: A steadily improving seventh grade PMS flag football squad shocked the world with a thrilling victory over the perennial favorite Stanley Middle School.

Stanley scored first with its balanced run-and-throw offense. Piedmont failed to score in the first half but its tenacious defense kept the game close. In the second half, Piedmont scored first with strongs runs by the quarterback and running back. The offensive line propelled the drive with impact blocking on the line of scrimmage.

Late in the game, and still trailing by a point, Piedmont went for it on fourth down. The Highlanders' quarterback dropped back and set his feet behind before unloading a tight spiral to an open Piedmont receiver, who made the catch and scored the go-ahead touchdown.
