PLEASANTON-- A car fire blocked two of three lanes on northbound Interstate 680 at Bernal Avenue, slowing the morning commute to a crawl, according to the CHP.

A white, four-door car burst into flames about 8:35 a.m., injuring nobody but creating a large visual distraction in the middle of the roadway, Officer Kevin Bartlett said.

Officials closed the right two lanes of the Interstate, leaving only the far left lane open to traffic, Bartlett said. All lanes were reported open at 9:26 a.m.

Residual delays are expected to continue while the flow of traffic recovers, officials said.
