PLEASANTON -- A 15-year-old boy remained hospitalized Friday morning with serious head injuries after losing control of his skateboard and crashing into a light pole, police said.

The boy's name and city of residence were not released.

Police were called to the 900 block of Grey Fox Circle in Pleasanton at 8:36 p.m. Thursday, where the teen had been reportedly skateboarding downhill in the roadway near a curb at an unknown speed. He apparently lost control of the skateboard and struck the pole, police said.

Crews from the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department and Paramedics Plus also responded and took the teen to a hospital with potentially serious head injuries, police said.

Police were investigating the incident and checking to see if the boy was wearing a helmet. State law requires those under 18 to wear a helmet while riding a skateboard. Police said no vehicles appear to have been involved in the incident.

Anyone with information related to the incident or the investigation should call Pleasanton police at 925-931-5100.
