OAKLAND -- An East Oakland man who killed his 17-year-old girlfriend and hid her body in a vacant house has been sentenced to 40 years to life in state prison.
Adrian Blocker, 23, pleaded no contest in April to second-degree murder for shooting Onika Jones, of Oakland, in the head execution-style on June 18, 2011, and to assault with a firearm for shooting the teen in May 2011. Blocker shot her in a foot in May 2011 but Onika told police she did not know who shot her.
Onika was a missing person for eight months before police found her body in a house abut Blocker's own family home. He had told police before the discovery that he believed her to be in Reno.
Blocker took a plea deal last month on the first day of testimony at his jury trial.
