RAIDERS REPORT CARD

n Passing offense: JaMarcus Russell missed wide-open tight end Zach Miller on his second pass of the game, at the Saints goal line. Things only got worse as the game progressed. He was intercepted once, sacked twice, fumbled once and misfired on 22 of 35 passes. Grade: F

  • Running offense: Justin Fargas struggled in his return from a two-game absence (groin injury). Darren McFadden had little impact. The Saints defense did a nice job containing the run and making the Raiders' play-calling predictable. Grade: D

  • Passing defense: Saints quarterback Drew Brees had his way with the Raiders. He completed his first 16 passes for 171 yards and finished 26 of 30. Brees had ample time to throw all game and wasn't sacked or knocked down until late in the game. Grade: F

  • Running defense: The Saints ran well enough to soften up the Raiders defense and keep Brees in favorable passing situations. Deuce McAllister averaged 5 yards a run and helped keep the chains moving. Grade: C-

  • Special teams: Kicker Sebastian Janikowski missed wide left from 57 and 59 yards. Johnnie Lee Higgins set up Oakland's first-half points with a 35-yard punt return. The Raiders held punt returner Reggie Bush in check. Grade: C+

  • Coaching: Tom Cable's decision to let Janikowski attempt a 57-yard field goal backfired. It almost happened a second time, when Janikowski missed from 59 yards. The Raiders failed to execute the game plans put forth by defensive coordinator Rob Ryan and offensive coordinator Greg Knapp. Grade : F
