Left guard Robert Gallery missed his third straight practice Friday with a left hamstring injury. Raiders coach Tom Cable said it's "doubtful" Gallery will play against the St. Louis Rams on Sunday.
Daniel Loper likely will make the sixth start of his six-year NFL career. He replaced Gallery late in the third quarter after Gallery suffered his injury against the Tennessee Titans last Sunday.
Running back Michael Bush (thumb) is questionable for Sunday's game. Cable will wait until Sunday morning to make a final determination as to whether Bush is healthy enough to play. It's likely that the Raiders will give Bush an additional week to heal, especially in light of the solid all-around performance by Darren McFadden as the lead back against the Titans.
Veldheer struggled a bit against the Titans. He snapped a ball past quarterback Jason Campbell on one play, got called for holding on another and had issues with his "timing
Campbell said he liked what he saw from Veldheer.
"He was very feisty, and that was something I liked, because the guy, he's a young guy, but he just showed he wasn't afraid of anyone on the field," Campbell said. "He was downfield blocking, he was in the pile when there's a crowd, and I looked up and Jared's in the middle, in the fight. So it was exciting to see a rookie really being feisty like that. I was very impressed."
"I talked to (Rams running back) Steven Jackson a little bit about it," Bradford said. "He said it's actually pretty fun. He said it's a nasty crowd, they're violent, they yell at you. But those are the type of crowds that make it enjoyable to play. I am looking forward to the challenge."
Bradford showed he isn't afraid of a daunting challenge, either. He attempted 55 passes in his NFL debut and emerged with his confidence intact from a 17-13 defeat against the Arizona Cardinals.
The 142.8 passer rating by Titans quarterback Vince Young was the best of any quarterback the first week. He also completed 13 of 17 passes (76.5 percent). Only the 49ers (78.3) allowed a higher completion percentage in Week 1. Young also passed for two touchdowns and was sacked twice.
