Five who flashed
Five players who had had good days on the Raiders' first practice of training camp: Wide receiver Rod Streater, an undrafted free agent, continued his solid work from organized team activities and minicamps. Cornerback DeMarcus Van Dyke broke up two passes as the starting left cornerback in place of Ron Bartell, who did not practice. Strong safety Mike Mitchell, out for the entire offseason, broke up a pass intended for Richard Gordon and also took the place Rock Cartwright as the personal protector on Raiders' punts. Fullback Marcel Reece caught several passes out of the backfield. If the first practice is any indication, the new offense suits him. Cornerback Pat Lee broke up a pass that was interception on a deflection by Chimdi Chekwa.
