NAPA "'- Defensive tackle Vance Walker and wide receiver Jacoby Ford were notable returning players to Raiders practice Monday as the team went into its ``regular-season'' mode with three practices remaining during training camp.

Also back at practice for the Raiders were right guard Mike Brisiel and cornerback Chimdi Chekwa. Cornerback D.J. Hayden, cleared for contact last Friday, was in full pads for the first time since suffering a ruptured blood vessel leading to his heart last November.

Strong safety Tyvon Branch was not present as practice began, with Brandian Ross getting work with the first team opposite free safety Charles Woodson.

It was the first day of ``closed'' practice, with the media watching only warm-ups and drills before exiting for team sessions as the Raiders build an actual game plan for Friday's night's game against the Chicago Bears at O.co Coliseum.

Typically, NFL teams treat the third preseason game as a dress rehearsal for the opener and merely hope to get through the fourth game healthy.

The Raiders have single practices Tuesday and Wednesday, breaking camp after the Wednesday session and returning to the club facility in Alameda.

Players who were working with the training staff and not practicing included defensive tackle Pat Sims, linebacker Keenan Clayton, offensive tackle Menelik Watson, wide receiver Juron Criner and linebacker Kevin Burnett.
