The Raiders announced Wednesday that they have signed Canadian Football League star running back Kory Sheets, the MVP of last season's Grey Cup.

In two seasons with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the CFL, Sheets rushed for 2,875 yards and 23 touchdowns, and also caught 86 passes for 781 yards and two more TDs. In the Roughriders' Grey Cup win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Sheets ran for 197 yards and two scores.

Sheets, who played collegiately at Purdue, entered the NFL in 2009 with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent. Later that season he joined the Miami Dolphins, where he played for two years. The 5-foot-11, 208-pounder spent the 2011 season with Carolina before heading to Canada.
