ALAMEDA _ The Raiders claimed defensive end Benson Mayowa off waivers from the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday as they began tinkering with their 53-man roster.

Mayowa (6-foot-3, 252 pounds) played in two games with the Seahawks last season after being signed as an undrafted free agent out of Idaho. He was inactive for 14 games as well as the postseason run to the Super Bowl championship.

In 45 games at Idaho, Mayowa had 67 tackles, 11 sacks, 11 forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.

To make room, the Raiders waived/injured linebacker Kaelin Burnett, a linebacker who was also a core special teams player.

The Raiders began assembling a 10-man practice squad, but will hold off on any announcement until Monday.
