SAN BRUNO — Two incumbents on the San Bruno Park School District board won re-election and a newcomer will join them.
Trustee William "Skip" Henderson was the top vote-getter with 27.3 percent followed by university professor Henry Sanchez with 23 percent and board President James Prescott with 21.9 percent.
Losing in their bids were businessman Charles "Chuck" Zelnik Jr. with 14.3 percent and food server Maria Araujo with 13.5 percent.
Henderson won an eighth term. He has urged the district to continue exploring grade reconfiguration at all its schools.
As a professor at the University of California at San Francisco, Sanchez said he has been involved in developing curriculum and wants to bring that and other skills to San Bruno Park. He'd like to see the district explore technology to promote distance or online learning, Sanchez said.
In his campaign statements, Prescott said the district should raise "the bar so that students will be successful in today's world."
He is a former teacher who "taught in every school in San Bruno" and thinks he has "good input as a member of the school board," Prescott said.
