The win clinched a co-championship for Carlmont (23-7, 12-2) with Half Moon Bay (21-5-1, 12-2), which also won Thursday.
This was Carlmont's sixth consecutive championship or co-championship, while Half Moon Bay last won a Peninsula Athletic League Bay Division title in 2001.
Carlmont scored its first two runs on a combination of walks, passed balls and wild pitches. In the fifth inning, Morgan Ching slapped a two-run single to drive in Caitlin Steele and Alexa Daines, and in the seventh an RBI groundout plated Kelly Cunningham.
Carlmont pitcher Jenna Mott was touched for seven Burlingame hits, including a monster solo over-the-fence home run by senior catcher Trish Malaspina. Only five home runs have gone over Burlingame's left-field fence, and Malaspina is the only batter to accomplish the feat twice.
Mott, pitching carefully, got the big out when needed. Burlingame had two runners in scoring position in every inning except the fifth, but could only push a run across in the sixth on doubles from Laura Minkel and an RBI double from hot-hitting Sam Quadt.
Altogether, Burlingame stranded 10 runners, eight on second or third base.
"This is the fourth championship team I've been on," said Cunningham, Carlmont's senior outfielder who led the Scots with
At Half Moon Bay, Leah Garcia pitched a seven-hitter with eight strikeouts and also got two hits to spark the Cougars to a 5-2 win over El Camino (4-17, 2-12).
Sophomore Maricela Abarca cracked three hits including a double for EC.
At Mills, Capuchino freshman pitcher Michelle Pilster fired a one-hitter with five strikeouts to lift Capuchino (12-13-1, 5-9) to a 4-1 win over Mills (10-14, 4-10). Pilster had a no-hitter working until the seventh inning when Rebecca Bright belted a solo home run. Whitney Lucero had a double and triple for Cap.
