The perfect combination of strong winds and breaking ice created the strange sight on Mille Lacs Lake. The townhomes shown are part of Izatys Resort, according to the YouTube video.

"It's pretty unique," said Shawn Devinny, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

This particular weather system came from Manitoba, where ice on Lake Dauphin completely engulfed homes, Devinny said.

Northwest winds on Mille Lacs gusted as high as 40 mph Saturday, driving the ice toward Izatys on the southeastern shore of the 132,000-acre lake, Minnesota's second largest inland body of water.
