A 10-year-old San Jose boy, who died in a Livermore vehicle collision Saturday afternoon, has been identified as Jonathan Manzo by the Alameda County Coroner's Office.
The boy, his 55-year-old mother and 15- and 12-year-old siblings, were transported to area hospitals. Manzo died from his injuries at Children's Hospital in Oakland. A 17-year-old male driver from Lathrop was also injured in the incident and hospitalized.
The collision occurred on Vallecitos Road, south of Ruby Hills Road. A 1997 Mercury Minivan, driven by the mother, and a 2006 Toyota Corolla, driven by the Lathrop man, collided shortly after the Toyota attempted to overtake another vehicle and lost control. There is no indication that alcohol played a role in this collision, said Livermore police Lt. Mike Peretti. The conditions of the involved parties were unknown Sunday. Police are still investigating the incident.
