Here is the latest NHL realignment proposal that could begin next season if approved by the NHL Players Association and NHL Board of Governors. According to Hockey Night in Canada, there would be two conferences and four divisions. The Detroit Red Wings, a longtime rival of the Sharks, would head to the Eastern Conference along with the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Winnipeg Jets would go from the Eastern Conference to the West.
