Center Logan Couture's contract extension with the Sharks is a five-year deal at $6 million per season, TSN's Bob McKenzie reported Tuesday. The earliest Couture can sign the contract is July 5, which is when the final year of his previous two-year extension begins. Couture will make $2.875 million for the 2013-14 season.

Couture, who will be entering his fifth season with the team, led the Sharks with 21 goals, and his 37 points were second overall in 48 games in the regular season. He added 11 points in 11 playoff games as San Jose advanced to the Western Conference semifinals. In his career, Couture has 167 points in 232 regular season games and 33 points in 49 playoff games.
