SAN JOSE -- Sharks general manager Doug Wilson said center Logan Couture had successful surgery Wednesday on his injured hand and is expected to make a full recovery. No timetable was set for his return, but it was previously estimated that he would be out of the lineup for three to four weeks. Dr. Arthur Ting performed the surgery.

Couture, who will begin his rehabilitation immediately, said earlier this week that the injury occurred three or four weeks ago, and the idea was to get it taken care of now rather than it be a bigger problem later.

"I wasn't practicing, had to numb it for games," Couture said. "It just got to the point where I couldn't do that for the entire season. We figured we wanted to be back for the end of the year, so we timed it this way."

The surgery was timed to the Olympic break, he added, because that provides an extra three weeks to heal if necessary.

Through 43 games, Couture has 14 goals and 35 points.
