SAN JOSE -- The NHL schedule-maker decided to rub a little salt in whatever wounds the Sharks still have from their playoff exit.

San Jose will open its season as the visiting team Oct. 8 when the Los Angeles Kings open their defense of the Stanley Cup at Staples Center. The Sharks, of course, had a 3-0 series lead over Los Angeles before dropping four straight games and being eliminated by the Kings last spring.

Three nights later, the Sharks are back in San Jose for their home opener against the Winnipeg Jets.

The NHL released information on the home openers for each team Saturday with the full schedule expected to come Sunday at 1 p.m.
