Fresh off Sunday's loss to Buffalo in which the Raiders blew a 23-14 fourth-quarter lead, team officials have reportedly told Coach Lane Kiffin he will be fired as early as today, according to published media reports.

Similar reports surfaced two weeks ago when the Contra Costa Times reported that Managing General Partner Al Davis was prepared to fire Kiffin before the season's end. Following that report, the Raiders won at Kansas City, perhaps saving Kiffin's job for another week.

Sunday's meltdown in Buffalo appears to be the last straw. ESPN and Foxsports.com reported today that Kiffin has been told he will be fired.

Davis has fired a coach just once during the season in his 46-year career with the Raiders. In 1989, Davis released Mike Shanahan four games into the season and promoted Art Shell to replace him.
