LOUISIANA TECH AT SAN JOSE STATE
RECORDS: Louisiana Tech 9-2, 4-1 WAC; San Jose State 9-2, 4-1
KICKOFF: 7:30 p.m., Spartan Stadium
RADIO: 1590-AM, 90.5-FM
SERIES HISTORY: Louisiana Tech leads 7-4. The Bulldogs have won the past five meetings. SJSU's last win came at Spartan Stadium in 2006.
STORYLINES: The winner of this game gets to 10 wins and likely finishes in second place in the WAC (an Idaho upset of Utah State would give a share of the WAC title to the winner). The Spartans haven't won 10 games since 1987 and have done so only six times in school history. Both teams are likely going to be at-large selections for bowl games, so this head-to-head matchup could be a battle that helps decide an invitation. ... This will be the last WAC contest for both teams. SJSU joins the Mountain West Conference next season, with Louisiana Tech headed to Conference USA.
Louisiana Tech -- RB Tevin King (knee) is out.
San Jose State -- DB Damon Ogburn Jr. (hamstring) is questionable, RB Tyler Ervin (shoulder), LB Derek Muaava (knee), OL Keith Bendixen (knee) and DT Joe Nigos (knee) are out.
MATCHUP TO WATCH: Louisiana Tech's offense vs. San Jose State's defense. The Spartans defense is a tad underrated and enters the game ranked 22nd in the country and is less than 2 yards per game behind Utah State, the WAC's top defense. But the Bulldogs are electric offensively. They lead the WAC and the nation in scoring offense and total offense. The passing game is highly touted behind quarterback Colby Cameron and wide receiver Quinton Patton, but the running game also leads the WAC with an average of 242.5 yards per game.
STATS THAT MATTER: SJSU quarterback David Fales broke three records last week and should break another one this week. He's six completions away from breaking Scott Rislov's 2002 record of 275. ... Freshman kicker Austin Lopez also is poised to surpass a record. He tied Sergio Olivarez's 1986 kicker scoring record last week by reaching the 86-point mark for the season. ... SJSU is holding opponents to a 31.6 percent conversion rate on third down, tops in the WAC and 20th in the nation. ... Louisiana Tech is seventh in the nation in turnover margin at plus-14.
