The Literacy Classic All-Star football game is expected to return next season, but organizer Charles Nash said there could be some changes.
Nash said he will again try to use San Jose as a base for one of the teams but is considering ideas to make the teams more even. The Northern California game made its debut Saturday at San Jose City College, and the North routed the South 42-7.
"That decision will be based on what kind of feedback I get from the coaches from the South," Nash said.
The North roster was filled with seniors from most of Santa Clara and San Mateo counties. The South had seniors from Morgan Hill to the southern end of the Central Coast Section.
Nash said he was generally pleased with the attendance, noting that about 4,000 people showed up.
The game next season could be played closer to the end of the high school playoffs, Nash added.
The five local honorees are Chidobe Awuzie of Oak Grove, Kyle Kevorkian of Los Gatos, Tomson Mathai of Evergreen Valley, Kevin Donahoe of Sacred Heart Prep and Zachary Kohtz of Capuchino.
"That'll be tough," Krail said. "There's a lot of great kids that are helping to build a program here at Santa Clara that will be back and hopefully having success and continue on in a positive direction. I want nothing but the best for those kids."
