U.S. Olympic ski star Lindsey Vonn tore two knee ligaments Tuesday in a crash at the Alpine World Championships in Schladming, Austria, and will need reconstructive surgery. Vonn, four-time World Cup overall champion, fell in the super-G one year and two days before the scheduled start of the Sochi Winter Olympics in Russia. Vonn tore the anterior cruciate ligament and medial collateral ligament in her right knee and sustained a tibial fracture, according to a U.S. Ski Federation statement. She is expected to return in time for the 2014 Winter Olympics.
