SAN JOSE -- San Jose State's inaugural Mountain West Conference schedule this fall will feature home games against rivals Fresno State and San Diego State, and no game against powerful Boise State.
The Spartans also will have home games against Utah State and Wyoming, and will play road games at Colorado State, Hawaii, Nevada and UNLV.
In addition to Boise State, the Spartans will miss Air Force and New Mexico.
The conference is divided into two six-team divisions, with the Spartans in the West Division. They play the other five teams in the West, plus three of the six teams in the Mountain Division.
The schedule appears to be a favorable one as SJSU attempts to build off last year's 11-2 Military Bowl championship season. Of the three teams that shared the Mountain West title last season, the Spartans face two at home (Fresno State and San Diego State) and avoid the third (Boise State).
It also bring an attractive schedule to Spartan Stadium, with both in-state rivals coming to San Jose. Dates and times of the games aren't available yet.
The Spartans will not have to worry about Boise State, Air Force and New Mexico until 2015.
The Spartans are slated to open the season with a nonconference home game Aug. 29 against Sacramento State. SJSU visits Stanford in the Cardinal's opener on Sept. 7 and travels to face Minnesota on Sept. 21. The Spartans host Navy on Nov. 23. Times for those games are not yet available.
By playing at Hawaii, SJSU has the option to schedule a 13th game, but a school spokesman said recently that he wasn't sure if it would utilize that option.
