The Warriors are among several teams that have expressed interest in 7-foot free-agent center Chris Kaman, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
The Los Angeles Lakers, Atlanta, Sacramento and New York also are interested in Kaman, sources said.
With Dwight Howard leaving Los Angeles, the Lakers and Kaman have a growing mutual interest, according to Yahoo Sports sources. Discussions are still in the formative stages.
Kaman played his first eight NBA seasons for the Los Angeles Clippers, and a return to Southern California to join the Lakers has strong appeal to him, a league source told Yahoo Sports. Kaman, 31, averaged 10.5 points and 5.6 rebounds in 20 minutes a game for the Dallas Mavericks last season.
Rockets: Center Omer Asik has formally asked the team to trade him in the wake of the team landing Howard in free agency. But the Rockets have no plans to grant Asik's wish, sources told ESPN.com.
Asik started all 82 games for the Rockets last season and averaged 10.1 points, 11.7 rebounds and 1.1 blocks.
Shortly after Howard announced his decision last week, Asik was in contact with the team and asked to be moved. The Rockets, however, have turned away offers thus far and will continue to do so, sources said.
On Sunday at the Orlando (Fla.) Pro Summer League, Rockets coach Kevin McHale said the team will try to mend fences with Asik.
McHale also said that Howard should be a "seamless fit" with Houston.
"He can run the floor, block shots, he can finish and that's all the stuff we want in our system," McHale said. "We're looking forward to developing something special."
Nuggets: Yahoo Sports reported that Denver and J.J. Hickson have agreed to a three-year deal that will be worth $15 million.
Hickson started 80 games as an undersized center for the Portland Trail Blazers last season, averaging 12.7 points and 10.4 rebounds.
Celtics: Boston signed 7-footer Kelly Olynyk, its first-round draft choice.
The Celtics traded up in last month's draft to pick Olynyk with the 13th overall selection, sending the No. 16 pick and two future second-rounders to the Dallas Mavericks.
Olynyk averaged 17.8 points and 7.3 rebounds while leading Gonzaga to a 32-3 season.
Bucks: Milwaukee has agreed to terms on contracts with free-agent forward Carlos Delfino and center Zaza Pachulia, according to sources close to the process.
Houston was forced to waive Delfino on June 30 to accommodate signing Howard.
