SAN JOSE -- Forward Chris Wondolowski was named to the Major League All Star team Monday, the only Earthquakes player selected by coach Peter Vermes.

Wondolowski, 30, leads the Earthquakes with five goals, three of them game-winners, and is second on the team with three assists. Wondolowski currently is playing for the U.S. national team in the Gold Cup, where he has scored five goals in two games, becoming the the first men's national team player to score five goals in the tournament.

The All Star game, July 31 in Kansas City against AS Roma, will mark Wondolowski's third consecutive All Star appearance. The game will be televised by ESPN2 and UniMas, starting at 6 p.m., Pacific Time.

The 20-member All Star team included all 11 players selected by the fans. Nine of the players are first-time All Stars. Twelve of the league's 19 teams will be represented.
