Washington 38, Boise State 6: Keith Price threw two third-quarter touchdown passes to become the school's all-time leader, and the Huskies returned to a $280 million renovated Husky Stadium on Saturday with a stunning rout of the No. 19 Broncos, the worst loss in Chris Petersen's tenure at Boise State.
Price was intercepted on his first pass but was nearly perfect from there. Price completed 23 of 31 passes for 324 yards. He found Kasen Williams on a 19-yard TD on Washington's first possession of the second half and his 18-yard strike to Josh Perkins gave the Huskies a 24-6 lead late in the third quarter. It was Price's 56th career TD, passing Cody Pickett as Washington's all-time leader.
Former San Ramon Valley High-Danville star Joe Southwick was 25 for 40 for 152 yards with one interception before Peterson subbed in Grant Hedrick.
It was a rematch of December's Las Vegas Bowl where Price was intercepted on the Huskies' final drive and Boise State held on for a 28-26 victory.
UCLA 58, Nevada 20: Brett Hundley passed for 274 yards and two touchdowns and ran for two scores, leading the No. 21 Bruins over the visiting Wolf Pack.
Jordon James ran for 155 yards and a touchdown, and Phillip Ruhl returned a blocked punt for a score as UCLA spoiled the debut of Nevada coach Brian Polian with a 41-point second half.
UCLA's offense piled up 647 total yards.
Cody Fajardo passed for 164 yards and rushed for two TDs for the Wolf Pack.
Oregon 66, Nicholls State 3: Marcus Mariota threw a touchdown pass and ran for two scores, and the third-ranked Ducks made easy work of lower-tier Nicholls in Eugene.
Mariota completed 12 of 21 passes for 234 yards before sitting after the third quarter when the Ducks had built a 45-3 lead. He also ran for 113 yards.
De'Anthony Thomas ran for 128 yards and two touchdowns in coach Mark Helfrich's debut. The team's former offensive coordinator, Helfrich was promoted when Chip Kelly left in January for the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles.
Byron Marshall of Valley Christian High-San Jose ran for a 49-yard TD for the only third-quarter score. He finished with 124 yards rushing.
Quarterback Beaux Hebert made his first start for the Colonels but was hit hard by Ducks cornerback Terrance Mitchell late in the first quarter and left the game with a concussion.
Hebert was sliding, and the replay showed helmet-to-helmet contact. Under a new NCAA rule, players who "target" and contact defenseless players receive a 15-yard penalty and an ejection. Hebert is the son of former NFL quarterback Bobby Hebert.
Auburn 31, Washington State 24: Tre Mason returned a kick 100 yards and Corey Grant scored on a 75-yard run to lead the host Tigers over the Cougars in Gus Malzahn's debut as Auburn's coach.
Auburn's Robenson Therezie intercepted two passes, including one in the end zone with less than five minutes left.
The Malzahn-versus-Mike Leach matchup of offensive innovators produced plenty of big plays.
The Cougars' Connor Halliday was 35 of 65 for 344 yards and a TD but was intercepted three times.
