Cameron Wilson shot a 5-under-par 65 Saturday to help Stanford move into fourth place at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational in Olympia Fields, Ill.
Wilson's two-day, 140 total put him in a three-way tie for second among individuals, three strokes behind Alabama's Robby Shelton, who shot a 66 on Saturday.
Stanford's Patrick Rodgers was tied for 11th at 144 after shooting a 71.
Alabama was in first place at 558. Stanford was tied for fourth at 582.
The event concludes Sunday. Jannik Ernst finished 14th out of 61 individuals to lead the San Jose State men's cross-country team to a fourth-place finish at the Fresno State Invitational. Ernst completed the four-mile run in 20:31.20. Rebecca Garcia finished 22nd in the women's 5K event at Fresno, helping the Spartans place fourth. Garcia clocked a 20:07.70. The No. 23 Cal women's volleyball team suffered its first loss of the season, falling in five sets to Kansas State in the Hilton Garden Inn Invitational 16-25, 25-22, 25-22, 19-25, 15-9 at Haas Pavilion. The Bears (7-1) hadn't dropped a set this season before Saturday. Nikki Hess and Megan Anders each had 12 kills and Alyssa Anderson had 37 assists as the Santa Clara women's volleyball team defeated Cal Poly 25-16, 25-14, 25-23. The San Jose State volleyball team split a pair of matches at the Bankers Classic in Stockton, defeating UC Riverside 25-20, 25-23, 25-23 and losing to host Pacific 25-21, 25-23, 25-15. The Santa Clara men's water polo team bounced back from a Friday loss to the host team in the Princeton tournament to defeat George Washington 12-7 and Johns Hopkins 12-10.
